2014 Christmas Message from the Pastor

Merry Christmas!

Kristy and I, pray that each of you will have a joy-filled Christmas as we remember the birth of our Lord and Savior!  It is our privilege to celebrate our sixth Christmas with you and honored to serve such a loving, caring people. You continue to make us feel at home and we are proud to call Eastside our church family.

Christmas is a time of joy, peace, and good-will to mankind.  May God help us as individuals and as a church to faithfully proclaim the message of God’s redeeming love through personal witnessing, the study of God’s Word, in preaching, in various mission projects along with our monetary gifts to local, state, national, and international missions.

The most awesome thing about Christmas is the Incarnation—of God coming to us in human form having been conceived by the Holy Spirit to a virgin named Mary.   Jesus is the embodiment of God in the flesh.  The Gospel writer John writes “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the holy begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14).”  Today, Jesus lives within us through the Holy Spirit.

So, in this Christmas season, let us focus on the gift that God gave to the world, the gift of forgiveness and salvation through Jesus.  Reflect the light of Christ and tell others about the joy that comes through faith.   May God encourage and strengthen you in the days ahead and may this Christmas be the most blessed and joyous Christmas ever!

In His service,

Ron and Kristy

8/17/14 PSA: Gospel Sing at Eastside Baptist

Public Service Announcement

Gospel Sing at Eastside Baptist, Kings Mountain

Charlie Griffin, noted soloist and motivational speaker will be in concert Sunday evening, August 17, 2014 at Eastside Baptist Church Kings Mountain (308 York Road).  The 6:00 pm concert is open to the public as the Eastside Baptist Church congregation invites you for this special time of worship.  A love offering will be received shares Pastor Ron Caulder.

Charlie is the son of Kyle Griffin and Geneva Johnson of Hudson, NC.  Since a teenager, Charlie Griffin has been singing in church, quartets,  and special events as well on concert stages.  The music was not always gospel.  When you talk with him, you will quickly learn of his love for jazz, blues, country and even some pop.  But it is his love of gospel music that impacts his audiences today.  With his music, he also speaks in positive motivational seminars and sales conferences and is a Liberty University theological student.

As you listen to the melodies on his projects in person, you hear and understand why music is so endearing to him.  “It is music with a positive message that impacts the listener even after the concert has ended,” shares Griffin.  Yes, the journey continues for someone who has been singing for 35 years.  And by the signs, Charlie Griffin does not look like slowing down.  The enthusiasm is still contagious for the music he shares.  The message is still just as vibrant as the day he started.  Yes, Charlie Griffin is still making music and enjoying what he does—SING…sharing the Good News!

The EBC family is looking forward for you during this special Singspiration on Sunday evening, August 17th.  The church is conveniently off Hwy 74 east, south on hwy 161, church is on the right.  From I-85, right on exit 8 onto hwy 161, church on the left.  For more information, contact the church office or Pastor Caulder at 704-739-8055.

4/20/14, Happy Easter: From the Pastor’s Desk…

Happy Easter!  Today we celebrate one of the two great miracles of our Christian faith—the bodily resurrection of Jesus from the grave.  The other is the incarnation of Christ.  The foundation of the Christian faith hinges on these two miracles.

I want to share with you this morning several evidences to support this historical event:

   1.  The first line of evidence is that of the four Gospels which report that on the Sunday after Jesus’ crucifixion, His tomb was found empty by several women, Peter, and the disciple John.

  2. Another evidence supporting the resurrection was that after His death, Jesus appeared to hundreds of people under different circumstances at various times and places, bearing the physical marks of crucifixion on His body.  Early believers were convinced of Jesus’ resurrection because many people saw Him with their own eyes.  In I Corinthians 15:5-7, the apostle Paul noted that many of those witnesses were still alive.

  3.  A third line of evidence for the resurrection of Jesus is the personal transformation of His disciples.  The book of Acts describes the transformation of these terrified and cowardly men into bold proclaimers of a message of salvation through the risen Jesus.  Seeing the resurrection Lord transformed those early believers.

  4.  And, perhaps the best evidence of all is that of our own personal experience of the resurrected Lord in our lives!  The words of an old hymn put it in proper perspective for us:  “You ask me how I know he lives; he lives within my heart.”  Certainly, personal experience of the risen Christ brings assurance to each of us as believers.  We also know that Jesus lives because the Word of God declares it to be a fact.  The apostle Peter makes the following declaration in Acts 2:24:  “…it was not possible that death could keep its hold on him.”

Let us rejoice and be glad on this Resurrection Day!!!

3/30/2014: Words from the Pastor…

God blessed us immensely this past week through our revival meetings!  Dr. Minnix delivered some powerful and challenging messages for us as the body of Christ.  I want to thank each of you who worked so hard to make this past week a memorable one.  However, we want it to be more than just a memory.  My prayer is that it has recharged us spiritually to look beyond ourselves and our church walls to share the life-changing message of the Gospel.  As Dr. Minnix said on Wednesday evening, God blesses us so that we can take our blessings to those who are hurting, unsaved, and in need of the eternal hope that is only found in Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior!

By the attendance we had last Sunday morning, you revealed to us that you do have friends.  Many of these, I’m sure, are saved and already have a church home.  However, I want you to think about the ones who filled your pews last Sunday who do not have a church home or saving relationship with the Lord.  Keep praying for them!  Invite them to worship with you again.  Share your witness and testimony with them.  Allow the overflow of the Spirit you received this week to flow into their lives!  And then, pray for the Lord to lay others upon your heart as well.  May God help us and empower us to take our mountain-top experience (as Dr. Minnix preached on Wednesday evening) to the valley of every day life!

May the Lord bless as we worship together today!
